Geographical Position
Villa Silj stands in its own farmland at about 13km from the Capitol and heart of the city and about 6km, from the first residential quarters on the north side of Rome. Since there are practically no suburbs on the north side of the city, access is very quick either by car or by metro. Local village Prima Porta is 5 minutes by car and 30 mins. on foot. click on photos to enlarge

Roman Villa to/from Rome centre by public transport: (see also below). The bus stop is outside the garden gate and runs approx. every 20 mins except Sundays and holidays (approx every 40 mins). 5 min run to Prima Porta metro station. Metro ride into the historic centre of Rome is about 17 mins. Average total travel time Roman Villa - Rome: 40 mins. Distance approx 7 km.
Arriving by train: If you arrive by train to Roma Termini (Roma Centre) station please take the metro A line from "Termini" to "Flaminio" station (4 stops away) and change onto the "Roma Nord" line from "Flaminio" to "Prima Porta" station (about 17 mins ride). At Prima Porta take the bus (5-7 mins. ride) marked 33 S.Cornelia (not 33 Monte Oliviero). Arriving by air: Both Rome airports ("L.d.Vinci - Fiumicino" and "Ciampino" are equidistant from us (about 40 mins by car). Avoid coming here by metro from either airport. That involves going into Rome and then coming out again and this takes at least 95 minutes. Please come by taxi (either taxi ranks outside the airports or book with taxi companies indicated below - minibuses also available for larger groups). The ride is about 40 mins. Late buses: After midnight the buses from Rome to Prima Porta go at 12,30, 1,30, 4,40, 5,00 am. But please check all these times when you get here because these times do change occasionally. Metro: There is a metro station at Prima Porta village (approx 5 mins. by car or bus from Villa Silj) with trains going every 15 mins approx. Journey time approx 17 mins. to the historic centre of Rome (Flaminio station next to Piazza del Popolo). The service operates from very early in the morning until 10,30 -11,00 pm. Taxis: Taxi from the centre of Rome to Villa Silj is about €uro 25-30 and after 10,30 pm. about €uro 50. The most frequent is the regular white taxi with a metre. For larger parties it is cheaper to use one of the taxi companies with people carriers. Our trusted company is: Alfredo Cavola (has a small consortium of taxis and minibuses.
