Some comments from guests who stayed at the Roman Villa

Hello Bernard, It's wonderful to hear from you! We had a delightful holiday in December. We loved the warmth of the fireplace and the close proximity to Rome. Thank you again. All the best to you and your family.
Kari

Dear Bernard (and Eleonora), Just a quick "thank you" for making our time in Rome wonderful. The kids absolutely loved being able to play with your boys-- late into the evenings at times. While they may not have benefited from wonderful storytelling opportunities, they did learn that they can feel at home in Rome, and it isn't necessarily so different after all. It is, but it isn't... I enjoyed soaking up the Italian sun on the terrasse. The overwhelming feeling of actually being in Rome was balanced with my quiet times, reading and being amazed at just how quickly clothes can dry under the Roman sun. Enjoy life,
Elaine

Dear Bernard, We did intend to write when we got home but promptly became embroiled in work again. We had a fantastic holdiay - the best we can remember - both at your villa and then near Lucca for our second week. On our first visit to the country we fell in love with Italy but particularly with Rome. Please accept our thanks for a great week and pass on my best wishes to Eleanora. With kind regards,
Chris

Dear Bernard, Two weeks have passed since we returned from Roma, and it is still in my blood. I had a wonderful time with my daughters and their friends in the cottage the orient. The arrival with your special welcom is something we will not forget. The house, the garden, or better the grounds, the closeness to the city, the lake, Tivoli and the italiens and their easy way of living made our holiday. Thank you for staying in your house, ciao
Jomien

We loved our visit to Italy and to your home. AS I tell my stories of our trip to Italy, one of my favorite is of sharing coffee with you and having you describe the history of Italy and Rome, as well as the sights we saw at your direction. The temple of Jupiter was my favorite and I have many pictures of that. I will begin to go to your belvedere web site often after tomorrow as I will then have my computer hooked up in my office. I will stay in touch.
Mary

Hi Bernard. I want to thank you and Eleanora again for the fabulous time at the Villa!! It was really special staying there. We will be back to experience it or another property in the future, I'm sure! Came home to our daughters' ballet recital on Sunday and that was a great welcome home. I will keep in touch! Best regards,
Vicki

We had a great time in Italy and enjoyed the villa very much. Our only regret was that we didn't get to spend much time at the villa. We did want to have dinner there one night and also have breakfast on the veranda but time didn't permit. The villa and grounds were what we would have wanted in Italy and the conviences in our accommadion met all our needs. We loved your hospitality and the little touches such as fresh fruit and the wine from your wife's family vineyard. Everyone thought the wine was great. We have told people from our parish about the villa and some of them are making noise about going as a small group but no commitments yet. Please stay in touch, Regards
Maureen

Hello Bernard, We had a lovely time with you at your villa. The accommodation was satisfactory for our requirements, although we could have done without the bunk bed in the living area as this made it a little small. We would love to spend some more time with you in the future. Many thanks for all your help and for a lovely stay. Regards and best wishes,
Maria.

Thank you ever so much for making our stay in the West Wing so enjoyable. The wine we were given was very much appreciated. We had a lovely time in such a wonderful setting and hope to return in the future. Thank you again
Kate and party

Dear Bernard, We had a wonderful time in Italy- the villa was simply beautiful. The only improvement I can think of would be the accessiblity of phone lines. Sincerely,
Marlo

Mr. Anson, We had a wonderful trip, and I staying with your family added an element to the trip that staying in a hotel could have never provided. Your boys are adorable, and it was wonderful to see them playing outdoors and hearing little voices about. My daughter was able to observe Italian family life...and how most things are universal. I hope by traveling, I am helping to enlarge her worldview, and sense of a global community. America, geographically, lends itself to isolationism. The villa is absolutely gorgeous, and a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Rome. I will never forget laying out at the pool and hearing the workmen next door singing as they worked. How can you place a value on that? Or the evening trip to the Arch of Constantine, with the lights of Rome and your gift of storytelling, and the fireworks exploding in the distance. Prima Porta ended up being a favorite place for dinner. We met wonderful people there.
Shelly

Hello Bernard, Thank you for writing. Italy was wonderful, so much so that we are planning a return trip in December. Thank you so much for your excellent accomodations. Our stay with you was perfect. The villa was beautiful, exactly what we were looking for. I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks again,
Perry

Hi Mr. Anson. We did have a lovely time at the Roman Villa. Let me say that for most of our party, the Villa was perfect. To come home at night an get in the pool was a treat. The breeze was refreshing during our visit. We lucked out on the temperature and are grateful to the big weatherman in the sky for that. Your wife's family lived in a lovely spot. Thanks for all of your help with planning our Rome trip.
Jerry

Hello Bernard, We enjoyed the peaceful setting of your villa, quite a switch from the noise of the centre of Florence. It was a wonderful place to regain spent energies, kindle romantic evenings and rejuvenate the soul with the quiet of countryside. Cheers,
Maureen & Garry

Hi- In a nutshell, we had a FANTASTIC time, and were delighted with the cottage. In fact, we are already organizing Rome Odyssey 2002 for NEXT March with many more people so that we can take over the big house. Everyone to whom we've shown pictures is aching to see the place and experience living on the outskirts of Rome. We LOVED the place and wouldn't have changed a thing, except, perhaps, our own poor planning and our inability to see the correct bus stop at night. Peace! -
Renee

Bernard, Thank you again for a wonderful time. We enjoyed the pool and the easy access to Rome. Good luck for the future. Regards,
Greg

Dear Bernard We all had a wonderful time in Rome and particularly appreciated your personal attention to our well being - always reassuring when you arrive in a foreign town. I cannot fault the arrangements made for us and would certainly consider staying in your villa again in the future. Best personal regards
Andrew

Dear Bernard, I just wanted to thank you and your wife and children for your wonderful hospitality during our recent stay. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Rome and were particularly happy to escape back to Cottage Farina in the evenings! Thank you very much & we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Robert

Bernard, This book, "Carmen Via" about your life is lovely and revealing. It is more than an autobiography - gripping and telling. To think of the struggles in your life you had to overcome is beyond me. I read most of part I and can't wait to read the finished product when it comes out in print. As for my stay at your Roman Villa - it was wonderful and more than anyone could ask for. At some points it literally felt like a dream. Thank you for everything. I felt very welcomed.
Kristin
